If you want to run macOS 10.15 using your VirtualBox virtual machine first and foremost you’re going to need a macOS Catalina image (vmdk file). On here are the installation files that you need to install macOS versions 10.15. These images are available online however not all of them guaranteed to work with VirtualBox. I won’t say this is the way to install macOS Catalina on VirtualBox, but it’s certainly a way, and it’s difficult to find information about a way to do it. There are a lot of posts indicating that 10.15 or 10.15.1 worked but 10.15.2 and beyond don’t. Or that there are difficulties with VirtualBox and APFS. Similar to installing Mojave on VMware and Mojave on VirtualBox, you can also install macOS Catalina on VMware or install macOS Catalina on VirtualBox. The process isn’t much tricky since we’ve created the macOS Catalina VMware & VirtualBox image files to different forms and uploaded to servers, so there’s isn’t much you’d need to do. Virtualbox v6.0.14 installs and works fine on Catalina 10.15.1 and 10.15.2 using Windows 10 1909, and Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS guests. Although it is tempting to install VB6.1, it is a new major update and I would delay installation until it has received a point update beyond v6.1.
